Army Armament Research, Development, and Engineering Center is seeking
qualified sources who can respond to a request for proposal for a four
year (FY98-01) Engineering & Manufacturing Development (E&MD) Effort
with two option years (FY02-03) of low rate production. The XM982 E&MD
program calls for the development of a projectile that will provide an
extended range capability in excess of 40 km. Extended range capability
is provided by the application of an aerodynamically streamlined
projectile with a unique base burner assembly in the aft end and a high
thrust rocket motor in the forward ogive space. The XM982 will
accommodate the same lethality as the current M864, Dual Purpose
Improved Conventional Munition (DPICM), presently in production. Full
and Open Competition is anticipated for this acquisition. Interested
