Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a quantity of 40, Three-theta
Critical (Ni)Fe/Si Multilayer Polarizers. The contractor shall supply
supermirror polarizer coatings on Si substrates. The Si Substrates
shall be boron-free and have the following dimensions: Height, 76(+0,
-0.1)mm; Length, 101.6(+/- 1.0)mm; Thickness, 1.00 (+/- 0.05)mm. The
substrate faces shall be of uniform thickness to 0.03mm over the whole
area. The average neutron reflectivity shall be greater than 0.90
between the Ni critical angle and three times the Ni critical angle for
one spin state. The polarizing efficiency shall be greater than 0.95
between the Ni critical angle and three times the Ni critical angle.
The coatings must be permanently bonded to the silicon substrates.
These coatings shall be only on one side of the substrates. THIS IS A
COMBINED SYNOPSIS/SOLICITATION FOR COMMERCIAL ITEMS PREPARED IN
ACCORDANCE WITH THE FORMAT IN FAR SUBPART 12.6, AS SUPPLEMENTED WITH
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION INCLUDED IN THIS NOTICE. THIS ANNOUNCEMENT
CONSTITUTES THE ONLY SOLICITATION; QUOTATIONS ARE BEING REQUESTED, AND
A WRITTEN SOLICITATION DOCUMENT WILL NOT BE ISSUED. This solicitation,
#53SBNB6C9305, is a Request for Quotation (RFQ). The solicitation
document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect
through Federal Acquisition Circular 40. The associated Standards
Industrial Classification Code (SIC) for this procurement is 3827, and
the small business size is 500 employees. Contract Line Item (CLIN)
0001 is a quantity of Forty (40), three-times theta critical (Ni) Fe/Si
Multilayer Polarizers. The FOB Point shall be Destination,
Gaithersburg, Maryland. Delivery is required within 90 days after award
of contract. Delivery and Acceptance location is the National Institute
of Standards and Technology, Building 301, Receiving Room,
Gaithersburg, Maryland 20899-0001. The following FAR provisions apply
