95 -- MULTILAYER POLARIZED SUBSTRATES SOL 53SBNB6C9305 DUE 091196 POC Trena Bercaw (301) 975-6324 The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) has a requirement for a quantity of 40, Three-theta Critical (Ni)Fe/Si Multilayer Polarizers. The contractor shall supply supermirror polarizer coatings on Si substrates. The Si Substrates shall be boron-free and have the following dimensions: Height, 76(+0, -0.1)mm; Length, 101.6(+/- 1.0)mm; Thickness, 1.00 (+/- 0.05)mm. The substrate faces shall be of uniform thickness to 0.03mm over the whole area. The average neutron reflectivity shall be greater than 0.90 between the Ni critical angle and three times the Ni critical angle for one spin state. The polarizing efficiency shall be greater than 0.95 between the Ni critical angle and three times the Ni critical angle. The coatings must be permanently bonded to the silicon substrates. These coatings shall be only on one side of the substrates.
