The Flight Dynamics Directorate is interested in identifying US and foreign sources that are proficient in the fabrication of aerospace quality titanium castings. Casting technology is gaining acceptance for use in commercial and military aircraft due to the cost saving potential versus traditional built up structure. Casting technology further promotes the unitized structure approach to aircraft design. The Flight Dynamics Directorate plans to further this acceptance by establishing a source list through a market survey. Sources for fabricating low cost titanium castings responding to this market investigation should respond with their capabilities, experience and facilities for fabricating high quality titanium aerospace castings. It is our intent to use the market survey to develop a source list and further expand our knowledge of the casting industry and promote the acceptance of castings in future aerospace structures.
