COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF AUGUST 28,1996 PSA#1668JOINT CHEMICAL AGENT DETECTOR (JCAD) POC: Kim Walton, Contract
Specialist, (210) 536-6385, Julie Heise, Contracting Officer, (210)
536-6342. The government is announcing the opening of the Joint
Chemical Agent Detector program World Wide Web homepages. JCAD is a
multi-service development used for detecting and identifying chemical
warfare (CW) agents in the interiors of aircraft, ships, and vehicles,
provide monitoring of equipment and cargo, and for ground troops in a
pocket-sized configuration. The system must be capable of detecting
and warning personnel when CW agents are present in extremely low
concentrations for the interior configuration. The detectors currently
in the inventory do not meet the sensitivity requirements for
identifying 12 hour meiosis dose-vapor hazards. As a part of this
announcement, the Air Force is seeking information on developmental,
near production, or production ready CW detector/sensor systems to
participate in a product demonstrating/testing program (see WWW page
for details). We are planning to release a Request for Proposal (RFP)
approximately in the second quarter (May-Aug) of 1997 for Engineering
and Manufacturing Development of the JCAD for the joint services. For
updates on the JCAD program, to include release of draft and final
acquisition documentation (performance specifications, statement of
objectives, etc.) and registering your name as an interested party with
the Brooks AFB Contracting Office, please check the JCAD WWW page as
often as possible at the following address:
(http://www.brooks.af.mil/HSC/PKA/programs/jscmad/master.html). This
announcement is not a solicitation. Loren Data Corp. http://www.ld.com (SYN# 0496 19960827\SP-0002.MSC)
