Contact Ward Lillback, (612) 572-7680, INTERNET: ward_lillback@fmc.com.
POC Ward Lillback, United Defense L.P., Armament Systems Division,
under Prime Contract DAAE30-95-C-0009 is seeking sources for the
development of two fire control subsystems for use on the Crusader Self
Propelled Howitzer and Resupply vehicles. The first fire control
subsystem is for the secondary armament (.50 cal M2 machine gun or 40
mm MK19 grenade launcher). The second fire control subsystem is for the
primary armament (155mm cannon) in the direct fire mode. The fire
control subsystems shall consist of a (one each) stabilized day/night
sight for line-of-sight target acquisition and engagement, the software
for sight control, and software for ballistic solution calculations
(secondary armament only). It is envisioned that the sight for the
secondary armament will provide a continuous 360 degree panoramic
field-of-regard capability, while the sight for the primary armament
shall be limited in it's azimuth gimbal travel to approximately +/-5
degrees. The sight for the secondary armament is envisioned to have an
elevation field-of-regard from -10 degrees to +60 degrees, while the
sight for the primary armament is envisioned to have an elevation
field-of-regard from -10 degrees to +20 degrees. Sensors envisioned to
be housed in the sights are a FLIR, eyesafe laser rangefinder and
possibly a low light level television camera. The fire control sights
will be operated remotely, thus all control, data and video signals
needed to operate, adjust or control the operation, movement, and video
of the sight must be capable of being transmitted using industry
standard electronic communications, e.g., 1553 data bus, RS-23/422/485,
or RS-170-343. Capability statements should include: 1) a narrative
discussing the organization's ability to meet the aforementioned
technical requirements and 2) a narrative discussing the unique
technical capabilities of the organization, including
development/production experience and associated personnel expertise.
The capability statements must be received no later than twenty one
(21) calendar days after publication of this announcement and should be
submitted via U.S. or express mail to United Defense L.P., Armament
Systems Division, 4800 East River Road, Minneapolis, MN 55421-1498:
