34 -- POWDER COATING SYSTEM -BOOTHS/EQUIPMENT SOL 1PI-R-0587-96 DUE 091396 POC Contract Specialist, MITCHELL, BETH, 202/508-3960 UNICOR intends to issue a sole source solicitation FOB Destination to UNICOR, Lewisburg, PA Contract: Firm Fixed Price type contract. Delivery Schedule: 120 DAYS After contract award date. Description and Quantities: Powder coating system for (2) each 542S Powder Paint booths. Each booth will be fitted with manual roll on/roll off line equipment. this will allow the complete booth, controllers, operator platforms, and bulk feeders to be moved as oneunit. The first booth in line will have 4 each manual application stations. The second booth in line will have 2 each manual application stations, and gun slots for 16 each 8 each side automate guns. These guns will be mounted in a stager position, 18 inches apart, on oscillators. Oscillation of these automatics will provide for effective coating area over the entire profile of the booth. One of each length/type of application gun and cable will be included as spares. 25 each of plastic wear containers will be provided as spares. 2 Sets of final filters will be included as spares. 2 sets of cartridge filters will be included as spares. An offer of credit on existing booths and related Norson Equipment will be provided. This will be shown as a deduct on the proposal. The expected shipping of credited items will be approx. Nov. 1996. Freight charges will be the responsibility of the vendor. Both Booths will come with all available quick disconnects to facilitate color module changes outs. 2 each bulk feed systems will be supplied. 55 gallon fiber type drum. Preliminary finishing system requirements: All gas heated stages must be capable of maintaining 160 degrees, based on pasrt through put as 12 FPM. 1st and 3rd stage will be heated by gas fired emersion tube. Each stage will have a swing awary dock light. All internal piping and external piping willbe CPVC. All risers will have cut-off valve and quick disconnect for removal. An additional 50 replacement nozzle will be provided with the system. EXisting filter booth will be included to provide complete and effective ware envelope for the largest existing part (36'' wide x 87'' high x 10' long. The contractor will be required to position each nozzle and demonstrate effective pattern. Average part spec. mtl A36 carbon steel. Avg. construction 1/8'' x 1''x1'' angle and 20 GA. Formed sheet. Max. part size to be 36'' widex87'' highx10' long. aveg. part weight 50 lbs.. Each stage will be required to maintain 25 psi with minimal to carry over between stages approx. 9ft. per 30 sec. dute to this operating pressure. Each stage will have pressure adjustments from 0-25 psi min. pumps are to be sized accordingly. All heated an unheated stages wil lhve temp probes located in such a manner that they will read riser discharge effluent withing 5 degrees. The readouts are for these probes will be 110 vac digital and mounted for easy viewing. Location fo rreadouts to be determined upon award. Tank bottoms will have a min. 8 degree slope towards drain to allow for ease of cleaning. a 3'' drain with sump will also be provided. All steel tanks and metal piping will be constructed of 304 stainless steel. All washer housing will be contraucted of composit polypropylene or stainless steel material. the floor of the Washer will be completely enclosed gtaring and easily removable for cleaning acccess. No removalbe section will be weigh in excess of 30lbs. The first stage of the washer will contain an effective oil skimming system. Motor and blower will be mounted on washer with no structure extending to the door. the exit of the washer will contain an effective and Adjustable air knife system. Washer and oven exhaust venting will meet all factory manual standards. All roof penetrating will be completed by USP Lewisburg. provisions of curbs, stacks, and acquisition of EPA and State forms for permitting will be the responsibility of the contractor. Permitting will be accomplished in accordance with all guideline of the state of PA. The disposal of trash and refuge generated by installation of this system will be the contractors responsibility. The cleanliness of the installation site will be maintained daily by the contractor. Line speed will be variable from 0-20 FPM. This will require a new drive unit to be fitted to our 1-beam conveyor. Line speed based on 12 FPM. USP Lewisburg will provide the drive unit. 2 each nordson NHC- 524s roll on roll off booths will be installed by the contractor and USP Lewisburg. A min. of 5 feet between these booths will be required. Contractor will show this on the layout. An interlock will be located in line to instruct the cure oven to recede to low fire when the conveyor stops. the ovens dry off and cure will be common design with columns of the existing building structure located within the columns of the existing building structure located within the confines of the oven. These columns will be insulated to prevent structural distortion separate burner will be required for each side. all duct work will be located on the floor on the oven and assembled of materials capable of supporting 250 lbs. at any location within the oven or air seals. The oven will be capable of elevator spec. heights 96'' width 120'' depth 14 feet weight rating 12, 000 lbs. GAS-3 supply @ 15 psi. no wash tank will penetrate the floor all tanks will be installed on the third fl. USP Lewisburg will remove the existing system. The contractor will provide the drawings of conveyor, utility drop requirements and roof penetrations within 45 days after award. Approximate bid opening date is 9/13/96.
