The procured Fourier Transform Infared Spectrometer (FTIR) will be used to analyze the aircraft paint and coating specimens. The step-scan capability of this instrument will be necessary to prove the depth profiling and to study the interfaces between the metal substrate and the primer or between the top coat and the primer.
