The Office of Naval Research intends to negotiate a sole source modification extending the current contract with SAIC for services supporting the Chief of Naval Operations. Performance will be limited to six months. The scope of this modification includes conducting analyses and studies related to current and future submarine roles and missions, threat capabilities, technical trade-off analysis of submarines, submarine force level requirements, and force-wide policy issues. Work will be performed at the TOP SECRET level. SCI clearances are also required. Because of their previous involvement in the work in progress, and current possession of the necessary clearances, SAIC is the only company that can continue to provide services without disruption of the process. The RFP for the follow-on contract will be issued approximately mid August 1996. (0240)
