Laboratory, operated by the University of California for the Department
of Energy (DOE), Los Alamos, New Mexico is source searching for firms
that may provide the Los Alamos National Laboratory with Prototype
Segmented Lu2SiO5Ce Scintillator adhering to the following
specifications. 1) Pixels must be 1mm x 1mm square. 2) Individual
pixels are 40mm long. 3) Individual pixels must be polished on all 6
sides. 4) Gap between pixels must be less than 100u. 5) Pixels sides
must have reflective mylar or similar coating. 6) Pixels must have very
high optical transmission T greater than 0.6. 7) Pixel-to-pixel
scintillation variation must be less than 20%rms. 8) Scintillation
efficiency must be greater than 15,000 visible photons/MeV. 9) LSO
packing fraction must be greater than 85%. 10) Entire segmented array
must be 5cm x 5cm x 4cm thick. 11) Array must contain in excess of 2000
individual pixel segments. 12) Array must be assembled with index
matching glue. 13) Array must have fewer than 10 dead pixels. 14) Front
and back surfaces of assembled array must be polished and flat to 50u.
15) Lu2SiO5:Ce must have a normal density greater than 7.0g/cm 3. 16)
Time constant must be less than 100ns. Companies interested in being
