Carter Tel: 410-965-8789 The Social Security Administration is seeking sources capable of providing the following products to assist individuals with disabilities who are visually impaired. (1) Braille 'N Speak - (quantity 10) 8''x5'' x 1-1/4'', weight-about 2 lbs, nickel-cadmium battery that will power unit for 14-20 hours between charges and also runs on standard household current via AC adapter; major features: braille keyboard and simple command structure, fully adjustable speech synthesizer (individuals to control rate of speech, volume, pitch and tone); storage for 800 pages of braille and up to 41 files (640K bytes); grade 2 braille back translator for print output; talking clock, calendar and telephone directory; word processing capabilities, including spell check; talking calculator and stopwatch; runs external software; supports on time calendar software by Campbell Services; one-handed operation mode; and serial port for interfacing capabilities. (2) Type 'N Speak - (quantity 15) 12''x6'' x 1-l/2'', weight-about 2 lbs, nickel-cadmium battery that will power unit for 25 hours between charges and also runs on standard household current via AC adapter; major features: standard qwerty keyboard and simple command structure; fully adjustable speech synthesizer (individuals control rate of speech, volume, pitch and tone); storage for 300 pages of print (768K bytes) in file memory and 256K bytes of program memory; talking clock, calendar and telephone directory; word processing capabilities, including spell check; talking calculator and stopwatch; runs external software; supports on time calendar by Campbell Services; and serial and parallel ports for interfacing. This is not a request for proposal and the Government does not intend to pay for the information solicited or received. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the source data received, but sources deemed qualified will be solicited when this requirement is issued.
