COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 3,1996 PSA#1671AFCEA INTERNATIONAL FALL '96 INTELLIGENCE SYMPOSIUM Each year, AFCEA
International holds two premiere intelligence symposia, one in the
spring at the Central Intelligence Agency and one in the fall at the
Defense Intelligence Agency. This year's fall event will be held on
October 30-31, 1996, at the Defense Intelligence Analysis Center,
Bolling Air Force Base, Washington, DC. The theme for the symposium is
``New Challenges, New Responses: Intelligence Support for the 21st
Century.'' In light of the challenges facing the Intelligence Community
to support a wide variety of customers with increasingly diverse
threats, this is a very timely topic. The keynote speaker will be
General Wayne A. Downing, USA (Ret.), former Commander in Chief, United
States Special Operations Command, and current director of the
Secretary of Defense-directed task force assessing the circumstances
surrounding the June 25, 1996, bombing of the U.S. military barracks in
Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. The symposium will have five sessions which will
examine the expanding role of intelligence into what some consider
non-traditional venues. The first session will explore the challenge of
providing intelligence to tactical users in peacekeeping and other
military operations short of war. Session two will emphasize
intelligence contributions in countering international and domestic
terrorism. The third session will look at the ways intelligence
supports counter-narcotics operations. Session four will examine the
intelligence challenges in the area of weapons proliferation, and the
last session will explore the role of intelligence in the growing
international military technology transfer issue. In addition,
approximately 30 vendors will showcase the latest in
intelligence-related technology. Symposium fees: Government/Military:
$125. Industry AFCEA Member: $300. Industry Non-AFCEA Member: $375.
After October 15, 1996, the rates increase $25 for government/military
attendees and $50 for all others. Symposium fees include all program
sessions, two continental breakfasts, two lunches, and one evening
reception. ATTENDEES MUST BE A US CITIZEN AND POSSESS A TOP SECRET
SI/TK CLEARANCE. Seating is limited, and the last symposium was a
sell-out. EXHIBITORS ARE WELCOME AND WILL FIND EXCELLENT EXPOSURE TO
SYMPOSIUM ATTENDEES AND DIA EMPLOYEES. Attendees and exhibitors, call
