COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 3,1996 PSA#1671TRADE EVENT ANNOUNCEMENT: ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES SEMINAR MISSION TO
COLOMBIA AND VENEZUELA Sponsored by the U.S. Department of Commerce's
OFFICE OF ENVIRONMENTAL TECHNOLOGIES EXPORTS. The U.S. Department of
Commerce and Deputy Assistant Secretary (DAS) Anne Alonzo will host an
Environmental Technologies Technical Seminar Mission to Bogota,
Colombia and Caracas, Venezuela from December 2 - December 6, 1996. The
mission will allow a select group of U.S. envirotech firms to interact
directly with their best potential buyers, partners, and decision
makers in Venezuela and Colombia. During the mission, participants will
conduct a technical presentation to audiences in Caracas and Bogota.
These will be followed by pre-screened business meetings with seminar
attendees and a reception with key players in the environmental market.
Further, firms are invited to join DAS Alonzo in bi-lateral meetings
with key ministries and industry executives. The market for
environmental technologies in Colombia and Venezuela, already worth an
estimated $600 million in 1994, is developing rapidly and is poised
for explosive growth. These countries have recognized the externalities
and direct costs of pollution and environmental threats and are
constructing an environmental infrastructure and a legislative
framework aimed at achieving sustainable development. This mission is
the perfect vehicle for U.S. environmental firms interested in
expanding or promoting their business in Colombia and Venezuela.
Participation costs $3100 and is limited and on a first-come,
first-served basis. Delegation members should sign-up no later than
September 30, 1996. For additional information, contact: Kristine
