The third meeting of the Modular Multifunction Information Transfer Systems (MMITS) Forum on September 10, 11, 12 will be hosted by The MITRE Corporation at the Mitretek Systems office in McLean VA. In addition to working toward the adoption of an open architecture for advanced wireless systems, the group will also accelerate development and use of software definable radio systems, address market requirements, and promote the development of standards for those systems. The membership includes telecommunications users, equipment suppliers, developers of hardware and software technology products/systems, and service providers/system operators. The three days will include meetings of the Technical, Marketing, and Operations committees, as well as plenary sessions at which a chair and vice chair will be elected. Work will also continue on items initiated at previous meetings, including: a possible change of name of the organization and affiliation with other groups.
