20 -- RUBBER FENDERS DUE 100496 POC Sarinder Singh, Contract Specialist, (507) 272-4687 The Panama Canal Commission is conducting a market survey to determine the availability of rubber fenders in the commercial marketplace and obtain technical specifications/literature on the commercially-available fenders. These rubber fenders are to be used on the Panama Canal Locks chambers. The rubber fenders shall resist impact, friction and the heat produced by ships when they hit the walls of the locks. All interested parties shall submit all the necessary technical information for the Panama Canal Commission to evaluate the product offered. The information shall include the type of rubber material used in the production of the fenders, an explanation of the production process, the hardness of the material, the kinematic coefficient of friction, the PSI pressure, the life expectancy and any other relevant information that may be necessary for the proper evaluation of the fenders offered. Any information provided shall be at no cost to the Commission. The information received will be considered confidential and will not be disclosed without the express authorization of the supplier. The information requested will be used in a market survey only. This notice does not express or imply the intent to purchase any product or to enter into a contractual agreement.
