975-3690. The Department of Commerce and the Federal Interagency
Council on Metric Policy present the third of six regional Metric
Dialogues September 6-7, 1996, at Seattle University's Schafer
Auditorium in the Lemieux Library. At each meeting, participants have
the opportunity to hear from experts on the benefits of using the
metric system to increase our global competitiveness, commercialize new
technologies, and enhance the job skills of America's workforce. Open
discussions will probe critical metrication issues. The meetings build
on the key themes -- trade, education, and public awareness -- that
emerged from the first National Metric Town Meeting held at the
National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) March 27-28,
1995. Subsequent Metric Dialogues will be held in Chicago on October
18-19, 1996, in San Jose on November 15-16, 1996, and on January 10-11,
