REGIONAL METRIC TOWN MEETINGS MOVE ``TOWARD A METRIC AMERICA,'' SERIES CONTINUES SEPT 6-7, 1996 IN SEATTLE, POC Gerard C. Iannelli (301) 975-3690. The Department of Commerce and the Federal Interagency Council on Metric Policy present the third of six regional Metric Dialogues September 6-7, 1996, at Seattle University's Schafer Auditorium in the Lemieux Library. At each meeting, participants have the opportunity to hear from experts on the benefits of using the metric system to increase our global competitiveness, commercialize new technologies, and enhance the job skills of America's workforce. Open discussions will probe critical metrication issues. The meetings build on the key themes -- trade, education, and public awareness -- that emerged from the first National Metric Town Meeting held at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) March 27-28, 1995. Subsequent Metric Dialogues will be held in Chicago on October 18-19, 1996, in San Jose on November 15-16, 1996, and on January 10-11, 1997 in Dallas. For further information contact the NIST Metric Program on (301) 975-3690, FAX (301) 948-1416 or email to metric-prg@nist.gov (via Internet).
