36 -- SPECIAL INDUSTRY MACHINERY SOL DTCG38-96-Q-L00091 DUE 092396 POC Contact Linda Stulick, Purchasing Agent, (919) 335-6640 This is a combined synopsis/request for quotation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in FAR Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only request for quotation; proposals are being requested and a written request for quotation/solicitation will not be issued. The request for quotation incorporates provision and clauses in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 90-34. This is an unrestricted requirement for the procurement of the following: Clin 1: Metallograph Equipment Nikon Epiphot 200 or equivalent. The metallograph should be inverted to allow observation of unlimited height samples. The inverted metallograph should have the required objective and auxiliary lenses for brightfield and darkfied observations as well as polarization and Differential Interference Contrast (DIC) observations. The metallograph should include ultra widefield trinocular body with appropriate eyepieces. A suitable mechanical stage should allow at least 75mm X travel and 50mm Ytravel. The metallograph should have a port for attaching a CCTV camera for additional analysis functions and capabilities. The metallograph should have a reticle port for inserting grain measuring reticles. Coupled ?with the inverted metallograph should be a high resolution color video camera (Sony DXC-970MD or equivalent) for transmitting images to an analysis system for calculations, printing and archiving. This camera should have 750 horizontal TV lines of resolution. There should be a monitor for ''live'' viewing of samples with the video camera. This high-resolution monitor should be the Sony PVM-1353DM or equivalent. The printer for metallograph images should be the Sony UP-5600MD Color Video/Digital Printer or equivalent. The printer should provide 700+ line continuous resolution. All images should be transferred eventually to an image analysis system. The image analysis system should be Image-Pro Plus or equivalent. The analysis system should provide image capture statisticalcalculations, grain size measuring, determining sample composition with Materials Pro Analyzer (or equivalent), printing, and archiving of images for future reference. The computer system should be based on Windows95 operating system with MS Office for preparing reports, spreadsheets, and databases of engineering reports. This computer system will also be used to link all lab equipment together for centralized operation, data collection, calculation and storage. The stereoscope is a Nikon model SMZ-2T, which uses the camera and image analysis equipment listed above to perform macroscopic work. The adapters for mounting the camera to the Nikon SMZ-2T stereoscope are already present, thus there is no need to duplicate the inventory. Your offer must include sufficient equipment specifications for the Government to be able to determine if our needs are met.
