the Air-to-Air Joint Systems Program Office (ASC/YA) is planning to
release a Request for Proposal (RFP) for the acquisition of AIM-120
AMRAAM Missiles, test vehicles, associated technical support and data.
The quantity of missiles to be procured for production Lot 11 is
expected to be a range of 170-300 for US missiles and a range of
490-900 for non US, a total of 660-1200 missiles. There will be an
option for production Lot 12 for a range of 242-267 US missiles and
346-560 non US missiles, a total of 588-827 missiles. The exact
quantity purchased will depend on the FY97/98 appropriation bills and
the number of signed letters of agreement from non U.S. sources.
Deliveries will commence approximately 1 Dec 98 (Lot 11) and 1 Oct 99
(Lot 12) with all missiles being delivered within 10 months thereafter
for each lot. AMRAAM is a dual source acquisition with Hughes Missile
Systems Company and Raytheon Company. Respondents must be qualified to
build AIM-120 Missiles. The Request for Proposal is scheduled for
release in October 1996 with contract award anticipated in January
1997. An ombudsman has been established for this acquisition. The only
purpose of the Ombudsman is to receive and communicate serious
concerns from potential offerors when an offeror prefers not to use
established channels to communicate his/her concern during the proposal
development phase of this acquisition. Potential offerors should use
established channels to request information, pose questions, and voice
concerns before resorting to use the Ombudsman. The Ombudsman for this
