This is an amendment to a commercial item synopsis/solicitation for 83 notebook computers. DOE received no fully responsive offers and is therefore amending the solicitation to allow additional time for proposals. Offerors are reminded that a demonstration system, as defined in the original synopsis/solicitation published on August 14, 1996, in the Commerce Business Daily, that meets all minimum requirements specified in the synopsis/solicitation, is required as part of the technical proposal. Demonstration system should be shipped to Mr. Robert Studebaker, Boeing Computer Services, 2420 Stevens Drive, Richland, Washington 99352. Offerors are also reminded that proposals shall be submitted in two parts, a price proposal and a technical proposal (which includes past performance). Technical proposal shall include demonstration unit as described above and list all characteristics provided to satisfy the requirements of line items 1 and 2, of the original synopsis/solicitation, including warranty information. Technical proposal shall demonstrate that the lead time requirement meets the delivery schedule. Past performance data required in the technical proposal shall include at least three references of businesses/agencies that have purchased similar systems from offeror. Price proposal shall contain pricing for individual line items, extended price for the required quantity, and total price.
