COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 10,1996 PSA#1676Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- TACTICAL SECURITY SENSOR INTERNETTING AND INTEGRATION POC Susan
Benik, Negotiator, (703) 325-6962, Edward Archer, Contracting Officer,
(703) 325-5028. The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking
commercial vendors of technology which uses established or emerging
standards for control and communication networking, as well as
Internet-based protocols such as TCP/IP to support a security system
containing a distributed array of sensors and other security devices
such as card readers, automated entry control portals, CCTV cameras,
and thermal imagers. The architecture sought should encompass a local
area network (or other networks of compatible or greater communication
capability) flexible enough to accommodate future upgrades in security
technology. The overall objective is to network these systems so that
they may be controlled by a single surveillance and control focal
point. The communications software protocol must be sophisticated
enough to permit timely annunciation of multiple and simultaneous
transmissions of data (alarm activation, CCTV transmissions, entry
authorizations, etc.). High end expectations are for all information
transmitted from the peripherals remote from the control focal point to
utilize radio frequency (RF) communications. The architecture should be
flexible enough to allow operation over various commercial
off-the-shelf (COTS) and military digital RF communications links. RF
capability maximizes the success of tactical security missions that
require rapid transport, deployment, and operation of the system in a
field environment - environments that offer minimal logistical or
infrastructure support. The system sought must be able to support a
multi-sensor array on an unmanned sensor delivery platform. Interested
parties are requested to provide by 30 Sep 96: (1) specification or
engineering documents or brochures which describe the capabilities of
their commercially developed devices which meet the requirements
specified above; (2) cost of these devices, both individually and in
quantity; and (3) point(s) of contact which can provide additional
information, if required. Based upon the results of this Sources Sought
Announcement, a solicitation may or may not be issued at a later date.
Questions concerning this announcement can be addressed to Ms. Susan
Benik, DSWA/AMA at (703) 325-6962. All information should be mailed to
