The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking commercial vendors of technology which use low frequency, high energy sound as a non-lethal barrier to protect high value assets. The system sought must utilize a low power source, be small enough to be man-portable, and small enough to be placed on a mobile platform. The primary intended use of the platform is for warehouse security. However, other applications would make use of the device as a static barrier delay/denial system. The ideal system would deter intruders by causing extreme discomfort ranging from mild annoyance to incapacitation. Devices exist that cause similar effects by adjusting the intensity, frequency, and other beam parameters, however these devices, as designed, are too large for practical use. Interested parties are requested to provide by 30 Sep 96: (1) specification or engineering documents or brochures which describe the capabilities of their commercially available or non-developmental item devices which meet the requirements specified above; (2) cost of these devices, both individually and in quantity; and (3) point(s) of contact who can provide additional information, if required. Based upon the results of this Sources Sought announcement, a solicitation may or may not be issued at a later date.
