COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 10,1996 PSA#1676Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- LONG RANGE INTRUDER/EQUIPMENT SENSOR POC Susan Benik, Negotiator,
(703) 325-6962, Edward Archer, Contracting Officer, (703) 325-5028. The
Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking commercial vendors of
technology which will detect nonlinear electronic junctions in
equipment such as cordless electric tools, small LED flashlights,
communications equipment, night vision devices, fuse timers, and
eavesdropping equipment, etc. at long distances. The optimum detection
distance is one kilometer, however ranges of 100 meters or less are
acceptable if it can be determined/shown that with future development,
the performance ranges can be extended. Detection sensors utilizing
this technology, at the ranges specified, have a potential to reduce
nuisance alarms normally associated with animals, background objects,
moving foilage, etc., because detection of nonlinear electronic
junctions would indicate the likelihood of an intruder as opposed to
other physical phenomena. Interested parties are requested to provide
by 30 Sep 96; (1) specification or engineering documents or brochures
which describe the capabilities of their commercially available or
nondevelopmental item devices which meet the requirements specified
above; (2) cost of these devices, both individually and in quantity;
and (3) point(s) of contact who can provide additional information, if
required. Based upon the results of this Sources Sought announcement,
a solicitation may or may not be issued at a later date. Questions
concerning this announcement can be addressed to Ms. Susan Benik,
DSWA/AMA at (703) 325-6962. All information should be mailed to
Headquarters, Defense Special Weapons Agency, Attn: Ms. Susan
Benik/AMA, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA 22310-3398. If the
information can be faxed, you may fax it to Ms. Susan Benik at (703)
325-9291. This synopiss is for planning purposes only and does not
constitute a Request for Proposal (RFP), and is not to be considered as
a commitment by the U.S. Government. The Government will not pay for
any information received as a result of this Sources Sought
announcement. Information on DSWA solicitations, already released, can
be obtained by calling the DSWA Hotline at (703) 325-1173. As of 31
May 96, Acquisition Management has added ''Procurement Opportunities''
to the DSWA Home Page avilable on the World Wide Web. Information will
