The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is seeking commercial vendors of technology which is capable of detecting intruders under conditions where passive InfraRed (IR) sensors cannot obtain sufficient intruder signature. The device we see should be low cost, wide area, passive optical or near InfraRed motion sensor with a range in excess of 150 feet and a field of view of at least 120 degrees. The device sought should also be an alternative to the complex and expensive video motion sensors which require a television camera and related software. The device is also expected to require relatively low power to operate and have a low incidence of false alarms. Interested parties are requested to provide by 30 Sep 96: (1) specification or engineering documents or brochures which describe the capabilities of their commercially available or non-developmental item devices which meet the requirements specified above; (2) cost of these devices both individually and in quantity; and (3) point(s) of contact who can provide additional information, if required. Based upon the results of this Sources Sought announcement, a solicitation may or may not be issued at a later date.
