COMMERCE BUSINESS DAILY ISSUE OF SEPTEMBER 10,1996 PSA#1676Defense Special Weapons Agency, 6801 Telegraph Rd., Alexandria, VA
22310-3398 A -- MINIATURE INTRUSION DETECTION SYSTEM (MIDS) SENSOR REPLACEMENT
POC Susan Benik, Negotiator, (703) 325-6962, Edward Archer, Contracting
Officer, (703) 325-5028. The Defense Special Weapons Agency (DSWA) is
seeking commercial vendors of technology which would replace the
outdated Miniature Intrusion Detective System (MIDS) Sensors currently
used by the US Air Force. State-of-the-art advances in sensor systems
technology have proliferated in recent years and; therefore, it is
likely that there are systems that are cheaper, more sophisticated, and
more deployable. The ideal system should be ruggedized and capable of
operating at greater ranges than that of the current US Air Force MIDS
sensors. In addition to meeting the capabilities of MIDS, the sensor
system should penetrate foliage and be capable of communicating via
radio frequency (RF) wavelengths. Systems should also be adaptable for
worldwide power and data transmission requirements. Interested parties
are requested to provide by 30 Sep 96: (1) specification or engineering
documents or brochures which describe the capabilities of their
commercially available or non-developmental item devices which meet the
requirements specified above; (2) cost of these devices, both
individually and in quantity; and (3) point(s) of contact who can
provide additional information, if required. Based upon the results of
this Sources Sought announcement, a solicitation may or may not be
issued at a later date. Questions concerning this announcement can be
addressed to Ms. Susan Benik, DSWA/AMA at (703) 325-6962. All
information should be mailed to Headquarters, Defense Special Weapons
Agency, Attn: Ms. Susan Benik/AMA, 6801 Telegraph Road, Alexandria, VA
22310-3398. If the information can be faxed, you may fax it to Ms.
Susan Benik at (703) 325-9291. This synopsis is for planning purposes
only and does not constitute a Request For Proposal (RFP), and is not
to be considered as a commitment by the U.S. Government. The Government
will not pay for any information received as a result of this Sources
Sought announcement. Information on DSWA solicitations, already
released, can be obtained by calling the DSWA Hotline at (703)
325-1173. As of 31 May 96, Acquisition Management has added
''Procurement Opportunities'' to the DSWA Home Page available on the
World Wide Web. Information will include this synopsis and more. Please
