The Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) hereby gives notice of its intent to issue a purchase order under simplified acquisition procedures to Datacomm Management Science (DMS) for an upgrade to the BOP's current matrix switch. The BOP SENTRY Network is migrating to high speed data circuits and requires the ability to switch T1 and Token Ring connections. The existing DMS 4000 Matrix Switch supports the 9.6 and 56K connections currently utilized and the upgrade will support the new technology required for the BOP's SENTRY Network. No solicitation document exists. Prospective contractors should submit cost and technical data to be evaluated. Interested firms must indicate their ability to satisfy the requirements within 15 days of this notice. Interested firms will be considered only if they respond with clear and convincing documentation that they are capable of meeting or exceeding the requirement stated herein at a cost sufficiently more advantageous that the contractor named. If no response is received within 15 days of this announcement, an award will be made to Datacomm Management Science.
