The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) hereby announces its intention to award, on a sole source basis, a six month extension under Contract No. 532-0165-C-00-4028-00 with Earl Guise, a U.S. non-personal services contractor to continue providing technical assistance services in support of the USAID financed Agricultural Export Services Project in Jamaica. The purpose of this extension is to complete the following activities: (1) oversee the installation of 4 packing houses and four (4) cold rooms for the subprojects, ensuring that they are fully equipped and operational, (2) train farmer beneficiaries in post-harvest technology, and oversee training done by outside individuals, (3) assist and train sub-project managers and staff in the application of approriate technology to improve yields in the cultivars produced in the sub-project areas, and training activities aimed at strengthening the cooperatives, (4) continue to establish and report on export market linkages in the United States in conjuction with the Jamaica Exporters' Association and local fresh produce exporters and (5) ensure that project activities are adequately monitored to meet the overall AESP objectives, using the project's Management Information System. There will be no solicitation documents issued for this proposed action. Responses, if any, must be made within 15 days of the first appearance of this notice.
