Item 0001, Ruggedized Touchstone (Paragone) computer, capable of accepting 24 Paragon MP nodes. Backplane and bootwide must be compatible with existing paragon hardware/software. Include one year of maintenance. Qty. 1. Delivery - FOB Destination. Desired delivery 30 days after award. Closing date for receipt of proposal is on or about 16 October 1996. It is our intent to make an award to Honeywell Inc., 13350 U.S. Highway 19 North, Clearwater, FL 34624, on a sole source basis. Justification supporting sole source is Honeywell's compatibility of a ruggedized rack for use with Intel Paragon nodes and system software. An Ombudsman has been appointed to hear significant concern from offerors or potential offerors during the proposal development phase of this acquisition. Routine questions are not considered to be significant concerns should be communicated directly to the Contracting Officer, E. J. Rena, (315) 330-7518. The purpose of the Ombudsman is not to diminish the authority of the Contracting Officer or Program Manager, but to communicate contractor concerns, issues, disagreements and recommendations to the appropriate Government personnel. The Ombudsman for this acquisition is Vincent Palmiero, Chief, Policy and Management Division at (315) 330-7746. When requested the Ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to the source of concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the evaluation of quotes or in the source selection process. The Ombudsman should only be contacted with issues or problems that have been previously brought to the attention of the Contract Specialist/Contracting Officer and could not be satisfactorily resolved at that level.
