Tennant, Jr., Contracting Officer (301) 713-0823 The NOAA/National Weather Service (NWS) is seeking industry comments on a Draft Specification and Draft Statement of Work for the Radiosonde Replacement System (RRS). The RRS is intended to be a Global Positioning System (GPS) based replacement system for the existing National Weather Service radiosonde upper air observing network. The network is comprised of approximately 103 sites which cover the conterminous United States, Alaska, the Caribbean, and parts of the Pacific. The RRS will comprise all necessary equipment to track and collect profiles on temperature, pressure, relative humidity, wind speed, and wind direction from surface to heights of 36 kilometers. Parties interested in reviewing and commenting on the Draft Specification and Draft Statement of Work should submit a written request no later than October 4, 1996 to the attention of Mary Watson at the above address. The Government will not pay for any effort expended by industry in reviewing and commenting on the Draft Specification and Draft Satement of Work. The Government will not award a contract as a result of this CBD announcement. Notice of any solicitation for the RRS will be published in the CBD prior to the issuance of the solicitation. (0255)
