R -- ENVIRONMENTAL PROJECTS MANAGEMENT SOL DE-RP05-97OR22700 POC Contact Point, Jeff Burgan, 423/574-7507, Contracting Officer The Department of Energy's (DOE) Oak Ridge Operations Office (ORO) is preparing Request for Proposal(RFP) No. DE-RP05-97OR22700 for a performance-based contract for the management and integration of its environmental projects for its facilities located in Oak Ridge, TN, Piketon, OH, and Paducah, KY. It is anticipated that the scope of the work will include overall responsibility for environmental restoration, waste management, and integration of technology development applicable to environmental restoration projects. ORO's approach to environmental management is to accelerate environmental management projects through cost effective strategies, such as facility reuse, asset reclamation, and other private sector initiatives, leading to reindustrialization of idle facilities. The budget for the ORO environmental management program is approximately $680 million per year of which this contract will be a part. The current contractor performing this work is Lockheed Martin Energy Systems, Inc., whose contract expires March 31, 1998. The following dates are tentative, but give interested firms the general time frames that are anticipated: draft statement of work available to public October 1996, RFP issued February 1997, contract award by January 1998 for a phase-in period, and contractor assumes full contract performance April 1998. An announcement will be placed in the Commerce Business Daily announcing the availability of the draft statement of work, public meetings, and the availability of the RFP. As the RFP is being developed, prospective offerors are encouraged to utilize information that is currently available related to the environmental management program and ORO.
