DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE CONFERENCE ON INDUSTRY INDEPENDENT RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (IR&D) FOR CHEMICAL/BIOLOGICAL (CB) SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY (S&T) POC: CBIAC, P.O. A Department of Defense (DoD) Conference on Industry IR&D for CB S&T will be conducted on 1-4 October, 1996 at the Edgewood Conference Center Seminar Area, Aberdeen Proving Ground in Edgewood, MD. It will be co-hosted by the U.S. Army Chemical and Biological Defense Command (CBDCOM) and the Office of the Assistant to the Secretary of Defense (Nuclear, Chemical, and Biological Defense Programs) (Chemical/Biological Matters). Briefings by DoD which address the S&T CB program and technologies critical for CB Defense in the 21st Century will be given on the morning of Tuesday, 1 October and will be open to industry attendees on a first-come, first-served basis (maximum seating capacity of 220). The remainder of the conference will afford industry representatives an opportunity to brief their S&T capabilities/technologies to appropriate government scientists and program managers at limited access panel sessions which cover the following commodity areas: Contamination Avoidance (Chemical and Biological), Protection (Individual and Collective) and Decontamination. Only two pre-registered company representatives per technology area will be permitted in each panel session. No company will be permitted to attend a panel session when another company is briefing. Industry briefers will be asked to show identification and Government attendees will be required to sign nondisclosure statements prior to attending panel sessions. Industry representatives wishing to brief their technologies at the Government attended panel sessions must pre-register by COB Monday, 23 September to reserve a slot. Walk-ins will be accepted (space permitting) only for the Government briefings to industry held on the morning of Tuesday, 1 October. On Wednesday, 25 September, a schedule indicating the time and location assigned to each industry briefer will be posted on the Chemical and Biological Defense Information Analysis Center's (CBIAC) web page http://www.cbiac.apgea.army.mil/ird96).The CBIAC web page will be updated as new conference information becomes available and will include an interactive conference registration form.
