Contracting Officer. The United States Government is seeking
Engineering and Production facilities to produce Caliber .50 Saboted
Light Armor Penetrating (SLAP) ammunition. The rounds manufactured
shall meet the following requirements: - Shall not require any special
firing device/pyrotechnics and shall be able to function in the
Caliber .50 M2 machine gun without any modifications to the weapon. -
Shall be safe to use, and present no unacceptable hazard to the
soldier. - Shall meet all requirements per MIL-C-70633C. Proposer must
provide evidance of: - Familiarity with design and process techniques
for injection molded engineered plastic parts and the relationships
between process controls and molded part performance. - Knowledge of
design and manufacturing technology in saboted small caliber
ammunition. The Government's intent is to procure a base buy of
approximately 100,000 rounds of SLAP ammunition. Interested producers
of .50 caliber ammunition are requested to submit capabilities
statements to U.S. Army ARDEC, ATTN: AMSTA-AR-PCW-D, Bella M. Iwanicki,
Building 10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806-5000. Inquiries must be in
writing. No solicitation will be issued as a result of this market
