D -- ADP DATA CONVERSION SERVICES SOL RFP 00008. Contact Point, Warren Saul, Contract Specialist, 415/329-4168. The U.S. Geological Survey requires the services of a skilled computer operator to perform the following services and operations: 1. Establish and construct digital databases generated from scanned & digitized maps and/or the reformatting of existing digital map data. 2. Establish and construct Internet WWW pages generated from digital databases, digital and traditional photographs, published papers and reports, and poster sessions. 3. Produce as a final finished product various maps, graphs, illustrations and other computer products from Government furnished digital databases and raw field data. 4. Produce as a final finished product various maps, graphs, illustrations and other computer products from Government furnished digital mosaic images and side-scan sonar data. 5. Make public and/or private presentations of finished computer generated map, graphic, database and illustration products at various meetings and conferences. This requirement requires public speaking skills, the ability to independently organize and produce presentations along with the ability to operate various electronic projection and sound reproduction devices. The contractor selected for this project must be able to demonstrate skill, familiarity and experience with Macintosh, Unix, and PC computer systems, and major software packages including ARC/INFO, PageMill, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, USGS MIPS, and Kaleidagraph. The contractor needs experience processing marine geological and geophysical data sets, in order to use judgment in completing various processing steps without extensive assistance from the Government. The contractor needs experience producing all the deliverables listed, with high quality, timeliness, and accurate work estimates. The contractor needs in-depth knowledge of applicable USGS standards and regulations. All interested parties and/or responsible sources shall respond, in writing, within 15 days of the publication of this notice indicating your ability to meet the requirements described herein. All work on this project will be produced with Government furnished equipment in facilities located in Menlo Park, CA. See Numbered Notes 1 and 22. (254)
