The U.S. Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate a sole source contract with GAMA Corporation, of Falls Church VA, for a Flexible Combat Environment Tool that is a modification of an existing indirect fires and patrolling model called the Tactical Training Tool. This developmental effort is integral to a critical Marine Corps project regarding rapid decision-making and pattern recognition on the 21st Century battlefield. The modifications are intended to improve the visualization of digital data (to combat units), aid engagement coordination procedures, include all source sensors (organic and inorganic) to the battle space, add future fires and 21st Century weapons systems, and broaden the scope of scenarios to include urban and archipelago terrain. Each of these improvements will be presented in a number of wargames to explore new warfare concepts and improve the model's effectiveness. This is projected to occur in FY 97.
