Fixed Price Bids will be solicited for the construction of a new Air
Surveillance Radar (ASR) Tower and Equipment Shelter for the 116th Bomb
Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, Robins AFB, Warner Robins, Georgia.
The tower will be operated by the Federal Aviation Administration
(FAA). This ASR Tower and Equipment Shelter is being constructed to
replace the existing ASR Tower and Equipment Shelter which is in
conflict with other planned construction. The ASR function must be
maintained throughout this construction. The radar equipment will be
brought in by the FAA for the new ASR Tower and the new Equipment
Shelter. Demolition of the existing ASR Tower and Equipment Shelter
shall be carried out under another contract at a later date. Major work
items include, 1.) Earthwork, excavation, backfill, for driveway,
parking, and site preparation for the Tower and Equipment Shelter, and
utilities to same. Concrete work for building foundations and other
features shown on drawings. 2.) Construction of a masonry Equipment
Shelter Building for housing radar equipment and power distribution
equipment and diesel emergency generator set. 3.) Erection of a steel
Radar Tower, nominally 77 feet in height. 4.) HVAC for the Equipment
Shelter. 5.) Power distribution and electrical work in support of the
Equipment Shelter environmental conditioning, lighting, and
miscellaneous small power. 6.) Conduits and raceways for the FAA cables
up the tower. Conduit and cables form the new Equipment Shelter to the
existing FAA RAPCON Building for monitoring the ASR function. 7.)
Construction of underground 12.47 KV primary electrical power to the
Equipment Shelter and furnishing and installing a 112.5 KVA padmounted
transformer for low voltage service to the facility. Performance time
is 180 days. Estimated cost of construction project is between
$500,000 and $1,000,000. The solicitation will be ready for issue on or
about October 1, 1996. Bid due date will be October 30, 1996. A
non-refundable charge of $30.00 will be required for purchase of each
set of plans and specifications. The only acceptable form of payment is
a postal money order, cashier's check or certified check made out to
the U.S. Treasury for the amount of the charge. No company or person
checks will be accepted. Estimated project start is December 1, 1996.
