K -- MODIFICATION OF THERMAL ANALYZER SOL DAAL01-96-R-9828 DUE 092796 POC Kevin Hawk, Contract Specialist, (301) 394-3138, Kathleen M. Tennant, Contracting Officer, (301) 394-3439. Netzsch thermal analyzer to be modified at the Army Research Laboratory (ARL) Chestnut Run, DE facility. The key features of this modification are: (a) It shall develop sintering schedules (b) It shall quantify binder burnout (c) It shall determine material shrinkage during firing, and improve the heating capability of the furnace to reflect the current sintering schedules used. Modification completion date is estimated to be not prior to January 1997. It is intended to award a sole source contract to Netzsch Instruments, 4 Landmark Drive, Stamford, CT 06901, pursuant to 10 U.S.C. 2304(c)(1). Market research has demonstrated that there is only one company which has the capabilities to meet ARL's requirements. Firms that recognize and can provide the required modification described above are encouraged to identify themselves and give written notification to the Contracting Officer within (15) calendar days after date of publication of this synopsis. The final determination by the Government not to open this requirement to competition, based on any information provided, is solely within the discretion of the Government.
