The Library of Congress intends to issue a delivery order against an existing Basic Ordering Agreement to renew a subscription with Desktop Data for the continued use and access of their service by the American Forces Information Service, Alexandria, VA. Desktop Data offers NewsEDGE which is a personal computer based information gateway service that captures and combines different news wire services delivered by X.25 telephone lines, FM broadcast, or satellite transmission, alerts users to important incoming stories that match multiple interest profiles created by the user, organizes the news on the user's PC for viewing and searching, and operates in the background on standalone or LAN based PCs, constantly delivering news to the user without tying up the PC. Service will be continued through September 30, 1997. WRITTEN RESPONSES SHOULD INCLUDE PRICES AND TECHNICAL DATA SUFFICIENT TO DETERMINE CAPABILITY. No telephone calls will be accepted.
