Greene, Contract Specialist, (202) 324-3319. The FBI has a requirement
for contractors with translation ability in a wide range of languages,
including but not limited to: Arabic, Chinese (all dialects), Dutch,
Farsi, Czech, Greek, Hungarian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Polish,
Romanian, Russian, Sicilian, Spanish, Thai and Vietnamese. The
contractor shall translate into English from a foreign language, the
speech and/or writings of non-English speaking individuals and on
occasion render from English into the foreign language. The foreign
language speech and/or written materials frequently involve technical
or non-standard terms in describing ideas, things, persons and places
relating to economics, politics, science, including high technology,
military concerns, legal matters and social events, including
terminology and basic institutional knowledge relating to investigative
fields of espionage, narcotics, organized crime and/or terrorism. The
place of performance will be in a FBI field office within the
contractor's geographical area. Travel may be required by the
contractor. Contractors will be reimbursed for travel expenses in
accordance with the Federal Travel Regulation's per diem rates. The
contractor may be required to testify in court as to the accuracy of
the translations. The government contemplates a multiple award
labor-hour contract with an initial period of performance with four
one-year options. The contractor shall take and pass a yearly
audiometer examination. The results of this test shall be provided to
the Contracting Officer's Technical Representative before commencement
of work. Evaluation criteria will include but is not limited to:
price, results of audiometer examination, results of the Foreign
Language Test Battery (FLTB), education, experience, results of
background checks and security clearance. Background checks and
security clearances will be performed on companies and all individuals
within that company assigned to this procurement. The scope of the
background check and security clearance is at the sole discretion of
the FBI. INTERESTED PARTIES ARE TO TAKE THE FBI'S FLTB. The FLTB is
valid for three years. If you have taken the FLTB within three years,
from the date of this CBD Announcement, you can request a solicitation
package. Also, if you have taken the FLTB and have not yet received
your results or you intend on taking the FLTB while this solicitation
package is open, indicate the date and place where the test will be/has
been administered. Attach the results of your FLTB to your solicitation
request. Requests for RFP 7044 shall be in writing and can be mailed to
the above address or sent by facsimile to (202) 324-4521, Attention:
Luwanna K. Greene, no later than 15 calendar days from the date of this
notice. Telephonic requests will not be accepted. This is a 1997
