The Army Research Laboratory (ARL), intends to procure for the refurbishment of a Photon Tunneling Microscopy System. The contractor shall provide the necessary imaging components to refurbish the Photon Tunneling Microscopy System. The system is the Polaroid Pegasus, Model 1515 PTM and consists of the following sub-systems: A Nikon MM-11 Oil Immersion Microscope with 100x oil immersion objective and 100 watt Nikon Quartz Halogen Light Source, Silicon Graphics Onyx Infinite Reality Engine Computer with SCSI-2 10Mhz/16 bit Differential Interface, and SIRUS video option. The system is currently located at Johns Hopkins University, Materials Science and Engineering Department, 3400 N. Charles Street, 102 Maryland Hall, Baltimore, MD 21218-2689. The proposed SIC Code is 3827. The period of performance shall not exceed 3 months without options. Delivery shall not be made prior to March 1997, unless agreed to by the Contracting Officer. The contractor shall notify the Contracting Officer at least 10 days prior to delivery. Delivery shall be made at the Army Research Laboratory, Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. Interested sources are encouraged to provide a statement of interest and supporting evidence of their capability to provide such items to the Contracting Officer within fifteen (15) calendar days after publication of this synopsis. Interested firms should indicate if they are a large or small business. If adequate interest is not received, the solicitation will be issued as a sole source procurement without further notice. It is the Government's intent to negotiate with InoVision Analytical Imaging System, Durham, NC. All responsible sources may submit a bid or proposal which will be considered by the Agency.
