Boyd (301) 619-4033 The AFMLO/VASS is in the process of initiating a Request For Proposal (RFP), Non-Mandatory Indefinite Delivery, Indefinite Quantity (IDIQ)type contract, FOB Destination, for Excimer Laser including product support items, estimated quantity 5, for a period of one year from date of award with four (4) options to extend the term of the contract. The solicitation will issue on or about October 9, 1996 with a closing date on or about November 9, 1996. Anyone submitting an offer is advised to review the entire and its amendments thoroughly. The essential characeteristics of the Excimer laser are: shall have treatment zone of 6mm, expandable to 9mm for future applicability. The optical zone (treated area) needs to be as large as possible to reduce the negative refractive effects of the edge of the treatment zone on vision; must be ''user friendly'' meaning easy to use; does not require liquid nitrogen to operate the unit; requires optical delivery system utilizing a minimum of three mirrors for precise alignment; auto calibrates; swing arm, no focus required calibration; requires lensometer verification for precision and accuracy; includes a corneal topography system for adequate preoperative screening and postoperative follow up; and FDA approved.
