Y -- SRS SPILLWAY - FLOOD DAMAGE REPAIR SOL DACW57-96-B-0040 DUE 110596 POC Contract Specialist MARTINA HARWOOD (503) 326-5816 (Site Code DACW57) Significant erosion in the SRS spillway was caused by water flows over the spillway during the winter and spring of 1996. The SRS is located in Cowlitz County, approximately 30 miles east of Castle Rock, Washington near river mile 13 on the North Fork of the Toutle River. Contractor work is required to restore portions of the spillway to pre-erosion condition. The work includes excavation of about 2,200 cubic yards (cy of rock, rock fill, and roller compacted concrete (RCC), placement of about 6,000 cy of RCC, and removal of about 3,000 cy of wood debris located in the spillway crest area. Excavation will be mostly in an area of the spillway where an existing creek was partially filled with rock fill and capped with RCC during original construction. Required excavation will breach the RCC cap/rock fill and form entrance and exit channels to and from the breached area. RCC placement will be along the left spillway wall for about 1,150 feet, at the crest to stem headward erosion, and in the breached area described above. Upon award, work must be completed within 90 days, before additional water flows over the spillway and increases the amount of erosion and potentially jeopardizes the spillway design function.
