POC Contracting Officer, Clyde Hooper, 541/471-6600 Work consists of
providing logging systems analysis and design services adequate to
insure the operability of various proposed timber sale units on 1,281
acres on the Galice Ranger District. Work includes, but is not limited
to, field reconnaissance or office data review to ascertain conditions
of topography, slope, stand condition/size/structure, and road
locations (existing and proposed) as it may affect logging system
design; identification and flagging of location of proposed landing
locations; identification and flagging of critical terrain 'control
points' (from which logging corridor profiles will be run);
identification and description (starting point, direction, estimated
distance and termination point) of logging corridor (terrain) profile
data that needs to be collected; computer analysis of logging corridor
profile data; economic analysis (appraisal) to determine logging
costs; and preparation of a logging feasibility report and unit harvest
plan which specifies, displays and summarizes for individual units and
the sale as a whole the appropriate yarding system, required machinery
size or capability, payloads, costs, problems, proposed harvesting
requirements (anchors, intermediate supports, road or skid trail
construction, site protection measures, etc. that will achieve the land
management objectives or environmental protection for the sale.
