Attendees will be provided with general overview of the Census Process including a breakdown of the items to be included in the questionnaire packages as well as the quality assurance requirements, processing requirements, and technical descriptions. Current schedule and quantities (total of packages including the long and short form of the questionnaires): Initial Mailout - 117,000,000 packages; 2nd Mailing (Replacement Mailing) - 67,000,000 packages; and Unaddressed Packages - 16,500,000 packages. Also printing, addressing, and mailing required for 117,000,000 advance letters and 117,000,000 reminder post cards. Approximate schedule: Award of questionnaire packages contracts - End of 1998; Address files received by contractor(s) - September 1999; Mailout of advance letters - End of February 2000; Initial Mailout - End of February 2000; Mailout of Reminder Post Card - Beginning of March 2000; Address files received by contractor(s) for Replacement Mailout - End of March 2000; Mailout of Replacement Mail Packages - As soon as possible after receipt of address files. Other items to be produced and delivered include various forms, publications and questionnaires with approximate quantities ranging from 1,000,000 to 66,000,000 copies each to be delivered no later than December 1999. Topics for discussion include: 1) Questionnaire construction to facilitate the Census Process; 2) Document Integrity (personalization); 3) Replacement Mail turn-around time.
