69 -- FIRE FIGHTING TRAINING SYSTEM SOL N61339-97-R-0006 DUE 111596 POC Joseph A. Balbona, Contracting Officer, (407) 380-8055 or Terry V. Gotter, Contract Specialist, (407) 380-4338 Training Device. The U.S. Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM) has a need to procure fire fighting training systems. The trainers shall be commercially available, propane fueled, computer/programmable logic controlled. The systems shall safely replicates flames, heat and reduced visibility during residential and aviation training scenarios. They shall create a realistic training simulation for generic Class A, B, and C fires with consistent and repeatable executions (training scenarios). They shall have the ability to safely and totally shutdown within 10 seconds in the event of a training emergency. Trainers shall consist of three types: aircraft, mobile structure, and fixed modular structures. The aircraft trainer and the mobile structure trainers shall be entirely self-contained to include the propane and power sources, a control/operator's station, and a department of Transportation compliance chassis capable of transport by U.S. Army tractors. The modular structure trainer shall connect to site provided propane, power and water sources. It shall have a control/operator station for each burn room and a ventilation system. It shall be a minimum of two stories, and possess the capability to be reconfigured/moved and shall have the capability to add additional floors. The base requirement is for two aircraft trainers, one mobile structure trainer, and three modular structure trainer. Options will be included which will bring the total to 10 aircraft trainers and 19 structure trainers. The options, if exercised, would be purchased in varying quantities over the next four years. The first six trainers will be located at U.S. Army installations within the United States. Locations for the remaining trainers include U.S. Army installations within the continental United States as well as overseas. STRICOM anticipates release of solicitation N61339-97-R-0006 on or about 15 October 1996. Proposals will be due by close of business 30 calender days after release. All responsible sources may submit a proposal and will be considered in the evaluation process. The solicitation will be made available through the World Wide Web, Internet location as follows: http://www.stricom.army.mil. The solicitation information will be located under the heading Procurement Information. A draft of the Statement of Work and Performance Specifications will be made available approximately 01 October 1996. Potential offerors are encouraged to make comments to the below listed Point of Contact no later than 08 October 1996.
