solicitation N68936-96-R-0334. The purpose of this synopsis is to
respond to technical questions. The requirement is for 40 simplex video
channels. The video will be coded at remote radar sites and decoded at
the central video center. Each CODEC System at the remote sites must
be capable of digitizing and compressing from one to four RS170,
RS170A, or NTSC color video signals into a standard DS3 digital data
stream. Each receiving CODEC System at the central video center must be
capable of converting the received DS3 signal to from one to four
RS170, RS170A or NTSC color video signals. At maximum the initial
system must be capable of 40 video channels. This requirement is for 40
coders and 40 decoders. Full duplex is only in reference to DS-1, RS
232, or RS 422 data transmissions in each coder/decoder combination and
not to the video signal transmission. System configuation is as
follows: Two video channels from remote site A to Central video center,
Four video channels from remote site B to central video center, Ten
video channels from remote site C to central video center, Two video
channels from remote site E to central video center, Six video channels
from remote site F to central video center, Four video channels from
remote site G to central video center, Two video channels from remote
site H to central video center, Two video channels from remote site I
to central video center, Two video channels from remote site J to
central video center, Two video channels from remote site K to central
video center, Two video channels from remote site L to central video
center, Two video channels from remote site M to central video center.
