The US Army CECOM intends to buy Global Broadcast Service (GBS) Ground Terminal Equipment. This acquisition includes Ground Receive Terminals (GRTs) for all services, Primary Injection Points (PIPs), and common Integrated Receiver Decoders (IRDs). Some draft documents are currently available for review and comment, and may be downloaded from the internet web site at URL http://www.anser.org/milstar/bizop/programs/gbs/. This solicitation will be only issued on the internet web site at the above listed URL. Additional draft RFP documents will be posted on this website beginning 18 October 1996. Presolicitation meetings are anticipated. The final RFP is expected to be released on 22 November 1996, with anticipated contract award 14 March 1997 and deliveries beginning May 1998. This program will maximize the use of commercial technology, practices, and processes. Source selection will be based on competitive, best-value decision.
