255-4746. This CBD announcement constitutes a Notice of Contracting
Action. The purpose of this synopsis is to notify small businesses of
potential subcontracting opportunities. The F-16 Systems Program Office
(SPO), Aeronautical Systems Center (ASC), is planning to contract for
six (6) AN/APG-68 radar systems. The Air Force is anticipating an award
of a contract modification in the third quarter of FY97 to Northrop
Grumman Corporation, Baltimore, MD. Northrop Grumman Corporation is the
development and production contractor for the APG-68 radars for the
F-16 aircraft. The contract modification will be issued under the
authority of FAR 6.302-1, only one responsible source and no other
supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The expected
period of performance will be Oct 97 through Mar 00. Northrop Grumman
will produce the APG-68 radars which include Programmable Signal
Processors, Mod Low Power Radio Frequency LRU, Dual Mod Transmitter
LRU, Antenna and Rack. An Ombudsman has been appointed to hear concerns
from offerors and potential offerors during the proposal development
phase of this acquisition. The purpose of the Ombudsman is not to
diminish the authority of the program director or contracting officer,
but to communicate contractor concerns, issues, disagreements, and
recommendations to the appropriate government personnel. When
requested, the Ombudsman will maintain strict confidentiality as to the
source of the concern. The Ombudsman does not participate in the
evaluation of proposals or in the source selection process. Interested
parties are invited to contact ASC's Ombudsman (Mr. Daniel L. Kugel,
ASC/SY, Bldg. 14, 1865 Fourth Street, Suite 12, Wright-Patterson AFB,

Ombudsman should only be contacted with issues or problems that have
been previously brought to the attention of the contracting officer and
could not be satisfactorily resolved at that level. Direct all requests
