The National Marrow Donor Program (NMDP) will be issuing a solicitation (#96-001) for the purpose of soliciting proposals from interested qualified laboratories, located in the United States, to participate in a collaborative program, using molecular biology typing procedures, for low resolution HLA Class I typing for the NMDP. The objective of this initiative is to unambiguously identify HLA-A, B, of volunteer marrow donors, using nucleic acid based typing approaches. The typings will be performed on frozen granulocytes, B-lymphoblastoid cell lines, peripheral blood lymphocytes or DNA. It is anticipated this solicitation will be released in November 1996.
