DESCRIPTION e.g. SOURCES SOUGHT. The U.S. Postal Service intends to
pre-qualify industrial material handling robot products systems
integrators and industrial material handling robot products for its
anticipated future need (estimated 300 robotics tray handling systems
nationwide). Four Axis, Six Axis Pedestal and Area Gantry robots are
required. Pedestal robots must service a 360 degree area with 100 inch
reach and with a minimum weight load capacity of 265 pounds. The
Gantry robot must be capable of high throughput (as a minimum 7
transaction per minute) with the same minimum weight load capacity as
the pedestal type. Products offered must be currently commercially
available. Product supplier (manufacturer, distributor etc.) must be
capable of producing, as a minimum, fifteen (15) units per month. The
quantity of each type robot has not been established. Respondents must
have 1) extensive experience and a successful industry reputation in
the integration and the implementation of robotics systems, 2)
extensive experience in automation control systems, and 3) resources
available to complete, as a minimum, 15 installations per month.
Interested sources must submit a comprehensive qualification package
fully addressing the above requirements, the robot product(s)
contemplated, a detailed description of five contracts completed within
the last two (2) years, both government and commercial, if applicable,
referencing the contract number, contracting officer name and
telephone number. Responses will be evaluated against the above
requirements. Those considered qualified respondents will be issued the
Request for Proposal anticipated for release in late October 1996.
Contract award(s) are anticipated in late February, early March 1996.
