286-7898. NASA's Goddard Space Flight Center intends to issue Request
for Proposal (RFP)5-02504-432 on a competitive basis for the
acquisition of Solar X-Ray Imagers (SXI). The SXI images the solar
corona in the soft X-ray to far ultra-violet region of the
electromagnetic spectrum. Full-disk solar images are provided with 5
arcsec pixels in several wavelength bands from 6 to 60 Angstroms. The
SXI telescope is mounted on the National Oceanic and Atmospheric
Administration's (NOAA) Geostationary Operational Environmental
Satellite (GOES) series. The Contractor will design, analyze, develop,
fabricate, integrate, test, evaluate and support launch of the SXI as
well as supply and maintain the instrument ground support equipment.
The basic requirement is for an engineering model, a spacecraft
electrical simulator, a mass model, two electrical instrument
simulators, and two flight units, with options for two additional
flight units. The RFP is expected to be released on or about November
1, 1996. All responsible sources may submit an offer which will be
considered. All requests for the RFP must be submitted in writing to

e-mail to steven.lloyd@gsfc.nasa.gov. The requests for the RFP must be
received within 15 days of appearance of this notice. Electronic
