(301) 443-1191 This proposed contract is 100% set-aside for small
business concerns, under Standard Industrial Code 8731. The Government
contemplates awarding a five-year contract as a result of this
solicitation. The anticipated start date of the new contract is June
30, 1997. The purpose of the proposed contract is to obtain
comprehensive laboratory animal care services, research support
services, and equipment maintenance services for those portions of the
intramural research program of NIAAA, located in Rockville, Maryland.
Offerors and their subcontractors must have a minimum three years
providing the type services requested, and a demonstrated record of
experience and professional competence in performing and providing all
technical support and management services necessary to maintain
biomedical research animal facilities and to perform research support
services in a manner compatible with AAALAC accreditation, and in
compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and guidelines. The
majority of animals to be maintained will be rodents and amphibians.
Offeror must have access to a pool of management, animal care, and
laboratory personnel qualified for and capable of carrying out the
various duties required, including animal care, research support for
rodent research (e.g., design and management of breeding colonies of
several mutant strains; design, scheduling, and performance of liquid
diet protocols for alcohol related studies; design, scheduling, and
performance of drug and special diet studies), tissue culture
collection, minor equipment maintenance support for equipment utilized
in the animal facility and tissue culture area, computerized record
keeping, database entry, database management, spreadsheets and word
processing skills. In addition, this contract must provide preventive
maintenance and emergency repair for a Basil 4600 Cage Washer and HVAC
Systems for the Animal Facilities. The incumbent contract was awarded
as a small-business set-aside to R.O.W. Sciences, Incorporated,
Rockville, Maryland in an aggregate amount of $1,995,580. A charge of
$15.00 is required to obtain a copy of this solicitation. Payment of
the $15 should be made by a Postal Money Order, Certified Check, or
Cashiers Check made payable to the Treasury of the United States.
Company issued checks are not acceptable. This charge is
non-refundable, and will cover reproduction costs of this solicitation.
