AA 34011-2300 V -- TOPOGRAHICAL MAP DISPLAY POC Maria Teresa Arias, Contract
Specialist, (507) 272-4690 The Panama Canal Commission seeks sources to
replace the existing topographical/map display of the Panama Canal,
which was fabricated in 1966. The model currently on display at the
Miraflores Locks, Republic of Panama, is 25 feet long by ten feet wide,
at its widest section. The exhibit which is made of fiberglass is
highlighted by a complex lighting system which spot-lights each
important feature as it is identified by audio aids. The display serves
as a learning tool, as it offers viewers a complete simulated transit
through the Canal. The audio/visual features include a narrated slides
show, that demonstrates not only the transit through the Canal, but
also allows the viewer a look into the Canal's history and operation.
The Commission is not looking for an exact or even similar replacement,
the above description is given only to highlight the intended purpose
of the exhibit. New and innovative, high tech and/or interactive
replacements that produce the same educational end result are
encouraged. When requesting or providing information state name,
address and title of announcement. Requests for information or
information will be accepted by facsimile at 011-507-272-7661.
Information on sources is required before November 15, 1996, and should
include a description of the proposed exhibit and an estimated price
range. Should you wish to forward drawings, pictures or other
